A group of Year 9 students, including 9 that regularly attend the Geography Debate Society every Tuesday after-school, participated in a workshop organised by Debate Mate.

Debate Mate is a non-profit organisation that recruits and trains university students to run
extra-curricular debate workshops in schools to increase speaking and listening attainment and improve a range of higher-order thinking skills and non-cognitive abilities such as confidence, teamwork, and leadership. The mentor, Omonye, was knowledgeable, encouraging and inspiring. 

The year 9 students impressed with their political awareness, verbal sparring and enthusiasm! They should be proud of themselves for representing STM so well. Well done!
