KS4 Careers Ed
In Years 10 and 11, students will be working towards completion of their GCSEs through examinations and NEAs. St Thomas More has a thriving Sixth Form, but at this pivotal time in our students' lives, it is important that they are well informed about the options available to them Post-16 including:
- A Levels
- BTECs
- T-Levels
- Apprenticeships (Work based training)
A Levels and BTEC qualifications will be available at St Thomas More Sixth Form, or they may choose to go elsewhere to another Sixth Form, a college or training programme. The most local colleges to Bedford are Bedford College and Shuttleworth College. Further info on both of these can be found here.
Careers Guidance
Students in Years 10 and 11 will be offered 1:1 careers interviews with a qualified careers advisor, and we strongly encourage all students to attend their interview when scheduled. You can also request a careers interview if you feel it is more urgent by emailing Mr Allen or your Head of Year. The purpose of these interviews is to provide students with sufficient guidance so that they can make informed decisions about their next steps.
Students will also receive subject-specific information in their timetabled lessons, in PSHE and form time and through trips and visits up to mid-way through Year 11. Some students will get the opportunity to complete Work Experience and all students have access to Unifrog, to research and log careers and pathways information.
