Our faith is at the heart of all that we do here at St Thomas More. Our school is named after St Thomas More whose famous last words, moments before his public beheading, were “I die the King’s good servant, but God’s first”. St Thomas More stood by the importance of his faith and his belief in God, even when it led to him losing his life.
Our mission statement Primus Servus Dei 'God's Servant First' challenges us to follow the Gospel values of Jesus such as forgiveness, justice, love, compassion, humility and integrity. We are proud that with the Gospel Values and Christ as our foundation we have a strong community. Our community is based on “being a servant” or in other words developing, encouraging and following these Gospel values.
Why is this important to us today?
St. Thomas More can be an inspiration to us all. Firstly, he shows us an example of someone whose faith was at the heart of their lives. He had the ultimate trust in God. He is also a role model for all of us as he stood up for what he believed in, and showed important virtues such as courage, resilience, perseverance, hope, and service.
